چکیده
Broadly speaking, MR imaging techniques can be divided into two groups: those that use extrinsic contrast agents and those that do not. Contrast-enhanced methods for imaging angiogenesis: • Dynamic contrast-enhanced (DCE) MRI using low molecular weight agents (<1,000 Daltons) that rapidly diffuse in the extracellular fluid space (ECF agents) • DCE-MRI using large-molecular agents (>30,000 Daltons) designed for prolonged intravascular retention (also known as macromolecular (MMCM), or blood pool agents) • MR imaging utilising contrast agents targeted to markers of angiogenesis, including stem cell imaging, where endothelial cells are tracked as they migrate to areas of neo-angiogenesis

Dynamic perfusion MRI versus perfusion scintigraphy: prediction of postoperative lung function in patients with lung cancer.
OBJECTIVE The purpose of this study was to determine the capability of dynamic perfusion MRI as an alternative to pulmonary perfusion scintigraphy for prediction of postoperative lung function in patients with lung cancer. SUBJECTS AND METHODS. Sixty patients with lung cancer (35 men, 25 women) underwent dynamic perfusion MRI, perfusion scintigraphy, and preoperative and postoperative pulmonary...
متن کاملThe role of relative cerebral blood volume obtained from Perfusion Weighted Imaging-MRI in glioma tumor grading before surgery
Introduction: Glioma is the most common type of brain malignancy among adults. Treatment for this type of tumor involves surgery, radiotherapy, and in higher grades, including chemotherapy. The precise grading of the tumor is critical for treatment planning and prognosis determining. Considering the possibility of problems such as errors in tissue sampling during surgery, as we...
متن کاملPerfusion magnetic resonance imaging provides additional information as compared to anatomical imaging for decision-making in vestibular schwannoma
OBJECTIVE The added value of perfusion MRI for decision-making in vestibular schwannoma (VS) patients is unknown. MRI offers two perfusion methods: the first employing contrast agent (dynamic susceptibility contrast (DSC)-MRI) that provides information on cerebral blood volume (CBV) and cerebral blood flow (CBF), the second by magnetic labeling of blood (arterial spin labeling (ASL)-MRI), provi...
متن کاملArterial Spin-labeling in Central Nervous System Infection
PURPOSE To investigate the characteristics of arterial spin-labeling magnetic resonance imaging (ASL-MRI) in central nervous system (CNS) infection. METHODS Thirty-two patients with CNS infections underwent a pulsed ASL-MRI. The findings on ASL-MRI were retrospectively assessed for the pathogens as well as each of the following four pathology classified based on conventional MRI findings: non...
متن کاملMagnetization transfer imaging shows tissue abnormalities in the reversible penumbra.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE In the concept of ischemic penumbra, the volume of salvaged penumbra is considered as the volume of FLAIR normalization on follow-up MRI compared with early diffusion and perfusion abnormalities. Using magnetization transfer imaging, very sensitive to macromolecular disruption, we investigated whether FLAIR normalization was a good marker for tissue full recovery. METHO...
متن کاملFunctional MRI detects perfusion impairment in renal allografts with delayed graft function.
Delayed graft function (DGF) after kidney transplantation is not uncommon, and it is associated with long-term allograft impairment. Our aim was to compare renal perfusion changes measured with noninvasive functional MRI in patients early after kidney transplantation to renal function and allograft histology in biopsy samples. Forty-six patients underwent MRI 4-11 days after transplantation. Co...
